A Report from ACERO Headquarters – England, United Kingdom
“ACERO has provided terrific support to refugees who are frustrated and tired of the miserable situation in Turkey.” – ACERO Turkey Chapter Member
ACERO has implemented a Christmas/New Year aid campaign supporting 26 Assyrian Christian families (244 individuals) living in 9 Turkish cities. The campaign prioritised families with disabled members requiring ongoing care in Istanbul, Düzce, Afyon, Amasya, Tokat, Nide, Çankırı, Kırıkkale and Yozgat.
This project was made possible through the generosity of ACERO project partner, the Assyrian Christian Compassion Ministry (ACCM) of California, USA. ACCM’s deep concern for the suffering of Assyrians in the Middle East has been overwhelming. ACERO offers its deepest appreciation to ACCM’s supporters and its devoted Board members, Rima Davejan, Michael Davejan, Amir Amiri and Maryam Pirayo.
Writing to us, an ACERO Turkey Chapter member notes:
“I’d like to express our sincere appreciation to the only helpful organisation that has supported us refugees in need. Many of us are facing hardships and the unknown here. I do not know where I should start. There are a lot of negatives compared to the positives; i.e. rent, hospitals, transportation, bills and so on. The most painful cases are those of handicapped children who are obliged to live in such circumstances. Many do not have any medical help and old people need medicine every day.”
