We are honoured to have recently received a $25,000 contribution towards our aid and relief efforts for displaced Christians in Iraq and Syria from the Pass-a-Grille Beach Community Church of the United Church of Christ in Florida, USA.
We offer our profound appreciation to The Reverend Dr Keith Haemmelmann, Senior Minister and all the blessed clergy and faithful of this community of God for their generosity, thoughtfulness and solidarity in these times of turmoil for the Middle East’s Christians. This sizable contribution was a pleasant surprise and will be utilized immediately in the provision of relief to IDPs in Northern Iraq and Syria. We offer our prayers to Almighty God for His continued blessings upon this congregation in Florida.
Pass-a-Grille Beach Community United Church of Christ was founded in 1913 near its present location in St. Pete Beach, Florida, on a barrier island facing the Gulf of Mexico. The present sanctuary was built in 1959 and today the membership of the congregation is over 800, including many who are winter residents. The church is proud to be “A Local Church with a Global Vision.” Members are involved in numerous mission and outreach programs in the community and beyond. In 2015 alone a young adult mission trip went to Jamaica to help construct an orphanage, a group of church members will travel 2,000 miles to Colorado help families whose homes were affected by flooding in 2013, a large group of teenagers will be going to Peru to help build a church and parsonage in a small Amazon River village and the Pastor is leading a spiritual pilgrimage to Israel and the West Bank.
