ACERO has lent its financial support to significant Christmas celebrations organized in Lebanon for refugee children from Iraq and Syria. Significant portions of the aid were also earmarked for the medical and educational needs of Assyrian refugees.
In collaboration with the Archdiocese of Australia, New Zealand and Lebanon, festivities were hosted in a number of locations to mark the Christmas period, providing joy to displaced children.
These photos provide a snapshot of activities organized at: Mar Guiwargis Cathedral (Sed el-Bouchriyeh), Mar Zaya Church (Zahle, Ksara), Rabban Pethyo Church (Hadath), Mar Khananya Church (Ashrafieh) and at the Assyrian Church of the East’s St George School.
Meeting the housing, medical, educational and daily living needs of the more than 1500 Assyrian refugee families from Syria and Iraq who are currently in Lebanon is immensely challenging. It goes without saying that the churches and humanitarian organizations working in Lebanon are struggling to meet even a fraction of the needs. Despite this, we have provided ongoing aid through the generosity of our supporters, project partners and institutional donors.
Please pray for the suffering of these people to be alleviated and for Almighty God’s grace and mercy to be showered upon them.
